Catching Bigger Fish at Astley

Hi Kev.
I have recently just joined and have been fishing Astley Pool.
On the 3-4 occasions I have been there I have probably caught about 100-150lb of fish each time including the odd nice tench about 4 1/2lb.
If I am not catching tench then it seems to be small carp about 1 1/2 - 2 lb. but there seems to be no sort of bonus fish although I have seen them at my feet about 7-8lb.
I have been mainly fishing along the stretch leading to the road and the first peg just after hopping over the fence.
Any ideas on baits or other pegs where I might catch a few bigger fish.
I normally use luncheon meat about 1/2 cubes or pellets.
